Hello Gravediggers,

I know I usually update at the end of the month (And I'll be back with our regular update in three weeks) but I didn't want to wait for this one!

Thanks to your feedback and support, Onyx Path has now fine-tuned the Abyssals: Sworn to the Grave PDF, implemented your feedback where appropriate, fixed all of the page numbers, and the finalized PDF is now available in your DriveThruRPG digital library.



You can access your DTRPG Digital Library at any time and download the latest version of the book at your convenience.

Later today, Onyx Path will release the PDF for purchase on DriveThruRPG. When that happens, they'll also make a print-on-demand version of that PDF availble for purchase. As one of your rewards, you may have access to a discount link that will allow you to add the PoD hardcover to your cart at a slightly reduced price, should you wish to buy a hardcopy of the PDF.

DIFFERENCES IN PoD FORMATS
So, for those backers who pledged at the PDF reward tier, or those backers who will later be receiving the hardcover book but might be looking for a second copy for the table - or can't wait until some of the print pricing issues are sorted in this chaotic and unpredictable time -  there are two different versions of Print-On-Demand options available.



Standard Color uses a thick 70# white paper which has better page opacity. (that's "70 pound" for reference, but does not mean each page weighs 70 lbs!).  Standard Heavyweight Color uses inkjet technology. (These are not the same inkjet printers you have at home - these are often as big or bigger than a car!) This option offers lower cost but the colors won't be as sharp or bright as a Premium Color book.

Premium Color uses the same 70# paper, but uses "Digital Color Print Engine Technology," which sounds super fancy and certainly costs a lot more, but I'll admit to not knowing the exact difference. This option offers superior color quality but is more expensive to produce, and has gotten even more expensive over the past year.

Last month's update came a bit early because it was super exciting, with the backer PDF going out to you! This one is coming right on schedule because it's less exciting. That could just be the summer heat talking. Let's dive in!

Last month, we distributed the Backer PDF for Abyssals: Sworn to the Grave. We've collected your feedback, and the Onyx Path team are now working on finalizing the PDF with your notes and prepping the Print-on-Demand version. Hopefully we'll get the finalized PDF within the next month or so. 

Riders from the Sunless Lands, the companion supplement we built via Stretch Goal during the campaign, has also moved forward. The manuscript is now in final draft form, the last stage before the writers hand it over completely to the developers, forging the various elements into one powerful whole. Looking forward to that!

The Abyssal Exalted awaken, and the world holds its breath.

At the moment of their demise, each Abyssal was offered power, survival, and revenge. This Exalted Third Edition sourcebook provides everything players and Storytellers need to introduce the Abyssals to their story. Inside you will find:

  • New character options, including artifacts, martial arts, and necromancy.
  • Setting information for the enigmatic Underworld and its shadowlands.

BACKER PDF VERSION

This is the first version of Abyssals: Sworn to the Grave to be released. The design and development teams have done their best to proofread and correct any errors and typos - but some always sneak through. If you catch any typos, incorrect math, visual glitches, and the like, we want to hear about them and correct them before we send the book off to print.

With that in mind, I'd like to introduce the Abyssals Feedback Form!

Onyx Path will be launching a special Abyssals Feedback Form, which you will be able to access here: <Abyssals Feedback Form>

Share your feedback directly with the Exalted developers and writers using this form and help guide it through the next steps of production.

They are aware of the Page XX notations - those are left in to replace for the final version once any changes you've suggested are made, so they can reference the correct page if any shifts in layout result.

Onyx Path will keep errata collection open for the next week. Please submit your feedback as soon as possible so the team can get on to finalizing this file!

They won't be collecting errata from other spots, just this specific form.

Please check that the Backer Name listed for you in the book matches your submission. 

If there are any issues with your Backer Name as listed, please use the form to communicate the issue with the team. After the Feedback Form closes in one week, they won't be adjusting the Backer Name list any further, so please double check.

After any needed corrections are made (based on your feedback!), they will prepare an updated final PDF version of the book and you will receive a notice from DrivethruRPG that you can re-download your file with the latest version.

COMING SOON

Pugmire Unleashed: A Player’s Guide is a supplement for the Realms of Pugmire tabletop RPG. Pugmire Unleashed is primarily a book for players who are interested in new options for their games. Inside you’ll find not only more options for dog player characters, more advice on how to play dogs, and more information about dog communities beyond the kingdom of Pugmire. You’ll also find more species to play: badgers, birds, lagomorphs, and reptiles. 
 
If you have a yen to be a nautical adventurer, there are rules for sailing and ships presented within, as well as a more detailed writeup of the main coastal city, Waterdog Port. For dogs looking to use strange and exotic weaponry, there are rules for gunpowder weapons, as well as the associated syndrome of Gunpower Panic that goes with using them. Combined with loads of new spells and backgrounds, there’s something for every player in these pages.
 
We haven’t forgotten the hard-working Guide in all this. Within in this book, we present not only some new enemies for player characters to thwart or befriend, but also three adventures that present a loose chronicle using much of the material presented in this book (and Realms of Pugmire). Players should avoid reading the back of the book, in case of spoilers, but most of the book is here for you to enjoy.

It's the Wednesday before the last Thursday of the month, and that means it's Exalted Update Day. We're *so close* to our reward (it's currently in Proofing), but not quite there yet. Wanna hear more about it? Here's a great source of info...

Onyx Path Virtual Gaming Convention 2025 is just around the corner! As they enter the final weeks of preparation, the schedule is settling in. Some panels and actual plays needed minor tweaks, which is normal for this stage of the game. People’s availability shifts and schedule issues bubble up, but so far they’ve been able to roll with the punches pretty easily and are on track for a smooth, fun, and informative show!

They’re also getting games for attendees to play ramped up via Startplaying.games. There are already a few games set up, and your encouraged to consider setting one up yourself, if you like running games! It’s a great opportunity to try out games you might not otherwise get the chance to, meet new players, and make a few bucks. Onyx Path's partners at Envoy who run convention games for them will also be running games via Startplaying.games and those entries will be showing up very soon at https://startplaying.games/event/onyx-path-2025!

As noted, all panels will be streaming on Onyx Path's Twitch channel running Friday June 6 - Sunday June 8, and Actual Plays will be streaming at Plastic Age Plays channel. I'd suggest checking out

If you're interested in a streamlined version of the Exalted Third Edition ruleset, one that uses all of the Lore and setting you already know but a simpler (but not simple) system, now is a great time to check out the latest Exalted: Essence project. Exalted: Essence Player's Guide

Chosen by the gods, their power tempered only by human hearts, the Exalted are all that stand between Creation and the forces that would ruin the world. Set in a rich and intriguing setting that draws from real-world histories and fantasy archetypes, Exalted: Essence features streamlined rules for a new way of playing a classic game, incorporating story-focused action and a presentation designed to appeal to new players and longtime fans alike.

The Exalted: Essence Player’s Guide is a book chock full of player-facing content. Within, we’ll walk you through how to think about playing your character, what kind of person they might shape up to be, and how to consider their strengths and weaknesses as well as Intimacies and Virtues. Beyond advice for roleplaying, each chapter also contains dozens of new Charms for characters to take, shaping the outcome of your campaigns. 

Unlike other Exalted books, this does not contain any new setting material. It’s all about your character and your campaigns. Most books also speak directly to the Storyteller, assuming they’re the person who does most of the reading. Not so here! If you’re a player in a game of Exalted, this book is for you. You don’t have to read the whole thing cover to cover, but the section that applies to your character has so much there for you.
